Darren Cools

Darren Cools is an experienced design professional with a strong background in graphic design, strategic communications, and team leadership. Currently serving as Design Manager at JLA Public Involvement since February 2019, Cools directs design operations and public involvement initiatives. As the Creative Director and Owner of Darren Cools Illustration and Design since May 2010, a focus on branding and illustration has been maintained. Prior roles include Creative Director at the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon, where Cools managed visual brand strategy and communications campaigns, and Adjunct Professor of Graphic Design at Clark College. Additional experience includes graphic design positions at The New Group, Parr Lumber Company, and Thomas Aquinas College. Cools holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts from Thomas Aquinas College and has pursued additional education at institutions such as Pacific Northwest College of Art and Portland Community College.
