Jim Ipema

Jim Ipema is a Principal at JM Search and a member of the Firm’s Consumer & Retail Practice. He partners closely with publicly traded, private equity-backed, and venture capital companies to recruit executives with an exemplary track record within consumer retail, direct-to-consumer, and food distribution sectors. Jim’s strengths include identifying talented executives within merchandising, supply chain, eCommerce, marketing, product development, finance, and human resources. He is a passionate executive recruiter who prides himself on providing best-in-class service and exceeding his client’s expectations.

Prior to JM Search, Jim worked as a Vice President and Principal at Slayton Search Partners, a boutique executive search firm in Chicago, where he played a vital role in driving substantial growth within the firm’s Consumer Retail, Direct-To-Consumer, and Food Distribution Practice. Jim led end-to-end recruiting while assisting the greater organization with implementing top-tier executive search methodologies. Earlier in his career, he also worked at executive recruiting firms Spencer Stuart and Kensington International.

Jim received his Bachelor’s degree from The College of Wooster in Ohio, where he was a men’s golf team member. Originally from the Chicago area, Jim resides in Lake Forest, Illinois, with his wife and three sons. When not serving his clients or spending time with family and friends, Jim enjoys golfing, long-distance running, and cooking.
