Mechanical Engineer - Batteries at Joby Aviation

Conor Gillespie began their work experience in 2011 as a Grade 8 Certified Referee with the Eastern Pennsylvania Soccer Association Referee Committee, where they refereed over 100 soccer games and developed strong communication skills. In 2016, they interned as a Construction Manager, ensuring adherence to specifications and acting as a liaison between construction workers, the department of transportation, and the community. The following year, they completed a manufacturing engineering internship at Bloom Energy, where they implemented process improvements and provided on-floor problem-solving support. In 2018, as a Design Engineering Intern at Tesla, Conor designed mechanical components for energy storage products and performed statistical tolerance analysis. From 2015 to 2019, Conor served as Team Captain at GWU Baja SAE for SAE International, leading a team of student engineers in designing and manufacturing a vehicle while managing a budget. In 2019, Conor joined Aurora Flight Sciences Corporation as a Battery Systems Engineer, contributing to battery system design. Conor'smost recent role, starting in 2021, is as a Mechanical Engineer - Batteries at Joby Aviation, where they are involved in battery engineering.

Conor Gillespie completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering at The George Washington University from 2015 to 2019. During their studies, in August 2016, they obtained a certification in Solid Edge ST9 Fundamentals from Spatial Integrated Systems. In 2017, they also briefly attended University College Dublin, where they pursued Mechanical Engineering.
