Daniel Santillan has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies in the aerospace industry. Daniel first worked at Northrop Grumman Corporation and United Technology Aerospace Systems as a Technical Intern in 2012 and 2013 respectively. In 2014, they joined United Technology Aerospace Systems as an Associate Engineer, where they contributed to various testing projects including Fire Seal, Sonic Fatigue, Anti-Ice, and Acoustic testing, and also designed and assembled the Fire Seal Pressure Box for A320neo and MRJ Fire Seal Tests.
In 2015, Daniel moved to 3D Robotics, where they initially served as a Flight Test Engineer, responsible for analyzing data and interpreting vibrational data for hardware and software modifications. Daniel then became the Manager of Test Engineering, overseeing testing efforts for the range testing of 3DR Solo and other vehicles.
In 2018, Daniel joined Joby Aviation as a Software Quality Assurance Engineer, overseeing software functional and regression testing for a type-certified EVTOL air taxi. Daniel'srole included testing of various software components, such as Flight Controls and state estimation, and utilizing Python for test automation. In January 2021, they transitioned to the role of Data Analyst, focusing on data analytics automation and analysis of flight data for multiple test beds.
Throughout their career, Daniel has gained experience in data analysis, testing, design, and project management within the aerospace industry.
Daniel Santillan completed their high school education at Grossmont High School from 2006 to 2010, obtaining a High School Diploma. Later, from 2010 to 2014, they attended Princeton University where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained a Wilderness First Responder certification in March 2016 from the Wilderness Medicine Training Center. In August 2013, they obtained an Open Water Scuba certification from the Unified Team Diving. It is unknown when they obtained their CPR certification from the American Red Cross, and they also hold a HEART Wilderness First Aid certification from the Emergency Care and Safety Institute, but the dates of these certifications are not specified.
