Actuators Manufacturing Engineering Lead at Joby Aviation

Heather Armstrong has a diverse range of work experience in various engineering roles. Heather began their career as a Student Engineer at Fleetway Inc. and Martec Ltd., followed by a Research Assistant position at the Space Robotics Group and Dalhousie University Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Heather then transitioned into the industry, working as a Software System Specialist at CAE, where they developed and debugged software models for aircraft mechanical systems. Heather also managed software releases for flight simulators.

After CAE, Heather joined Saccade Analytics as part of the founding team. In this role, they developed a business plan and pitch presentation and designed software systems for concussion and dizziness diagnosis using gaze signal research.

Following their time at Saccade Analytics, Heather became an Engineering Manager at NanoXplore Inc., where they successfully executed the construction of a graphene manufacturing plant. Heather also served as a Project Manager, overseeing all aspects of the project's lifecycle, including automation and control systems. Previously, they worked as a Project Specialist at NanoXplore Inc.

Heather's most recent position is at Joby Aviation as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer.

Heather Armstrong completed their Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree with Co-operative Education in Mechanical Engineering at Dalhousie University from 2005 to 2010. Heather then pursued their Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering at McGill University from 2012 to 2015.
