Software Verification Operations Lead Flight Controls at Joby Aviation

Ritupriya Patil has a diverse work experience in various industries. In 2012, they worked as a Booth Attendant at Mavericks Parking Garage. Ritupriya then served as a Tutor at University Tutorial and Supplemental Instruction from 2013 to 2014. From 2015 to 2017, Ritupriya worked as an Engineering Intern and later as a Systems-Software Engineer at Genesys Aerosystems, where they focused on autopilot mode logic development. Ritupriya then joined HeliTrak, Inc. in 2018 as a Flight Test Engineer and Systems Engineer, contributing to the design, development, and testing of autopilot systems for helicopters.

In 2020, Ritupriya embarked on the Citizen Scientist Astronaut Candidate Program at Project PoSSUM. This program prepares candidates for suborbital space flights and involves various research activities related to climate and space. Also in 2020, they joined Joby Aviation as a Software Verification Engineer, where they managed a team responsible for software testing and validation for eVTOL systems. Ritupriya later took on the role of Software Verification Operations Lead Flight Controls, overseeing the execution and maintenance of test cases and supporting documentation for software certification purposes.

In 2023, Ritupriya had the opportunity to be a part of the Mars Research Desert Station (MDRS) analogue astronaut mission conducted by The Mars Society. Ritupriya served as the Executive Officer and Crew Scientist for Crew 281, planning multiple Extra Vehicular Activities (EVAs), operating drones, and leading EVAs.
