Ian Kennedy is a seasoned research analyst currently employed at John Burns Research and Consulting, specializing in building products since June 2023. Previously, Ian served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Family Forest Research Center from May 2020 to May 2023, where Ian co-led the Northern Region’s Timber Products Output Survey, designed survey instruments, established data-collection pipelines, and conducted statistical analyses using R. Ian also held the role of Graduate Technical Advisor in Programming and Statistical Analysis at the Department of Earth, Geographic, & Climate Sciences at UMass Amherst and started as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for an Introduction to GIS course. Ian's early career included an internship at the Center for Agriculture, Food and the Environment, where communication and outreach focused on climate adaptation. Ian holds a Master of Science in Geographic Information Science and Cartography and dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Environmental Science and Earth Systems from UMass Amherst.
