Emma Banks has work experience as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the John Innes Centre since March 2022. Prior to that, they worked as an Industrial Microbiology Placement Student at Shell from August 2015 to August 2016.

Emma Banks started their education at Royal Grammar School Worcester from 2006 to 2011, where they obtained 10 GCSEs at A*. Emma then attended Stratford Upon Avon Girls' Grammar School from 2011 to 2013 and completed their GCE A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, and Geography, along with GCE AS-level Mathematics. Emma pursued their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biological Sciences (Microbiology & Infectious Disease) with Professional Placement at the University of Exeter from 2013 to 2017. Emma then joined the University of Nottingham and completed their Masters by Research (MRes) degree in Antimicrobials and Antimicrobial Resistance from 2017 to 2018. Currently, Emma is pursuing their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Antimicrobials and Antimicrobial Resistance at the University of Nottingham, which they started in 2018 and is expected to complete in 2022.
