Postdoctoral Researcher at John Innes Centre

Jay Goldberg has a diverse work experience in the field of biology and research. Jay is currently employed as a Visiting Scientist at the John Innes Centre since 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Arizona - Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from 2021 onwards. In this role, they focused on studying coevolution between plants and insects using whole genome sequence data. Additionally, Jay worked as a Rural Outreach Fellow at SARSEF from 2022 to 2023, where they contributed to designing a hands-on research experience for a Biology class.

Before their post-doctoral position, Jay gained research experience as a Graduate Student Researcher at Indiana University Bloomington from 2015 to 2020. In 2017-2018, they also served as an Associate Instructor at the same institution. Prior to their graduate studies, they worked as a Post-baccalaureate Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology from 2013 to 2015. During this time, they conducted research on interactions between wild tobacco plants and insects, focusing on plant chemical defenses.

Jay also gained teaching experience as a Substitute English Instructor at Educom in 2014. Jay began their research journey as an Undergraduate Researcher at the University of Puget Sound from 2012 to 2013, where they independently conducted research on pheromones in striped plateau lizards. Jay also worked as an Instructor's Assistant during this period. Lastly, Jay started their professional career as a Student Intern at Affymetrix in 2010. Overall, Jay has a strong background in biological research, teaching, and outreach.

Jay Goldberg received their High School Diploma from Lynbrook High School from 2005 to 2009. Jay then went on to complete their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, General at the University of Puget Sound from 2009 to 2013. Following this, Jay pursued further education and obtained their Doctor of Philosophy degree in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior from Indiana University Bloomington between 2015 and 2020.
