Thomas H.

Postdoctoral Researcher at John Innes Centre

Thomas H. has a diverse work experience in the field of agricultural sciences and crop research. Thomas started their professional journey as a Crop Science Technician at the University of Nottingham in September 2017. In this role, they played a crucial role in assisting researchers in fine mapping QTL for tomato root system architecture, agrobacterium transformation of plants, and investigating Arabidopsis RSA. Thomas also used various techniques such as DNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, PCR purification, bioinformatics, confocal microscopy, and CT scan image analysis. Thomas'sresponsibilities included ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, managing laboratory supplies and expenses, waste disposal, and maintaining a clean working environment.

In 2018, Thomas joined NIAB EMR as a CTP PhD Student. Under the supervision of Dr. Andrew Armitage and Professor Mattew Goddard, they worked on a project titled "Using precision diagnostic technologies to tailor disease management strategies." Thomas continued their research in precision diagnostics and disease management strategies.

In 2023, Thomas is set to start a new role as a Postdoctoral Researcher at John Innes Centre, which indicates their progress and growth in the field.

Thomas H. began their education at Bishop Rawstorne C of E Academy from 2003 to 2008. After completing A levels in Physical Sciences at Runshaw College from 2008 to 2010, they went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science (BSc Hons) degree in Biology from 2012 to 2016 at Imperial College London. Following that, Thomas studied at the University of Nottingham from 2016 to 2017, where they earned a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Applied Biomolecular Technology. Currently, Thomas is enrolled in the University of Lincoln, where they are pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Genome Sciences/Genomics, which they expect to complete in 2022.
