Lennard Eckhardt

Board Member at John Muir Charter Schools

Lennard Eckhardt is a retired educator from Colorado. He graduated from the University of Northern Colorado, and received his Master Degree from Western State Colorado University. He began his career teaching and coaching at the middle school level where he remained for two years and then at the high school level for the next nine years. The next 24 years he served as a principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent in the Garfield School District No. Re-2 in Rifle Colorado. During that period Rifle became one of the first districts in the nation to develop a comprehensive strategic plan that provided very specific goals and action plans designed to provide measurable educational outcomes for all students. He was instrumental in founding and serving as Chairman of the Colorado Surplus Asset Fund. CSAFE provided an investment vehicle for public entities in Colorado and upon his retirement in 2001 the fund was approaching one billion dollars in assets. He was member of the Colorado Association of School Executives and served on the Legislative Committee, was a presenter at the Aspen Institute, and the Colorado School Board Association's annual meetings regarding current educational issues. Presently Mr. Eckhardt lives in Long Beach, Ca.
