Carrie Tanzman has extensive work experience in the retail industry. Carrie began their career at Macy's in 2000 as a Buyer for Petite Dresses. In 2005, they joined Gap Inc. and held various roles such as Merchant for Men's Knits, Sweaters, OW, Woven Tops, Sr. Merchandiser for Women's Pants, OW, Woven Tops, and Merchandise Manager for Women's and Petites. In 2013, they transitioned to Lucky Brand, where they served as the Sr. Director of Merchandising/DMM for Outlet, Men's & Women's Fashion, and later as VP Merchandising-Outlet. From 2017 to 2019, Carrie held the position of Vice President at Lucky Brand, overseeing Omni Merchandising for Women's and Accessories, as well as Wholesale Apparel. Currently, they are the Senior Vice President of Merchandising, Merchandise Planning, and Buying at Johnny Was.

Carrie Tanzman obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Consumer and Family Sciences from California State University, Northridge, where they attended from 1996 to 2000. Prior to that, they pursued their passion for fashion design at FIDM, earning an Associate of Arts degree in Fashion Design from 1998 to 2000.
