Lee S. Hawthorne

Lee S. Hawthorne, Ph.D., currently serves as the Associate Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Chief of Staff to the Vice Provost for Student Affairs at The Johns Hopkins University since January 2020, leading strategic initiatives within the division. Previously, Lee held the position of Assistant Vice President for Operations and Administration at Virginia Tech, where responsibilities included acting as Associate Vice President for Student Affairs during a senior colleague's absence. Prior to this, Lee was Director of Student Life at UMBC, managing a staff dedicated to enhancing student engagement. Earlier roles include Coordinator of Student Life at the University of Richmond. Lee's academic background encompasses a Ph.D. in College Student Personnel from the University of Maryland and a Master’s from Bowling Green State University, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Randolph Macon Woman's College.
