Head Of Materials Engineering - Licencing at Johnson Matthey

Stephen Shapcott is an accomplished materials engineer with extensive experience in corrosion engineering and materials science, currently serving as the Head of Materials Engineering - Licensing at Johnson Matthey since January 2015. In this role, Stephen acts as a subject matter expert for various materials-related work streams, particularly in the chemical technology licensing sector, including methanol plants and advanced hydrogen technologies. Stephen has spearheaded multiple R&D programs focused on innovative materials solutions for the challenges facing the chemicals industry. Prior roles include serving as a Senior Principal Materials & Corrosion Engineer and providing expertise in catalyst technologies and petrochemical licensing projects. Stephen's career also includes positions at GE Oil & Gas and BAE Systems, where Stephen focused on materials engineering and corrosion research, complemented by internships that refined skills in welding and environmental applications of aluminum. Stephen holds a Master of Research and a Bachelor of Engineering, both from the University of Birmingham.
