Catherine Gaither

Catherine (Kate) Gaither serves as an Adjunct Professor at both SMU Dedman School of Law and the University of North Texas at Dallas College of Law since August 2022 and August 2024, respectively. As Of Counsel at Johnston Clem Gifford since June 2017, Kate specializes in appellate law, banking and finance law, and complex commercial litigation within a boutique law firm focused on the financial services industry. Prior to this role, Kate worked as an attorney at Kane Russell Coleman & Logan, PC from 2012 to 2017, specializing in banking and financial services litigation, and served as an Associate Attorney at Baker Botts LLP from 2007 to 2010, where responsibilities included general commercial litigation and bankruptcy. Kate holds a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from Duke University School of Law (2004-2007) and a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in the Business Honors Program from The University of Texas at Austin (2000-2004).
