Alex Schroeder has a diverse background in the energy and transportation sector. They started their career as a Research Analyst at PA Consulting Group in 2006. From 2005 to 2011, they held various roles at the Western Governors' Association, including Program Director for Transportation Fuels and Program Director for Radioactive Materials Transportation. During this time, they managed technical, policy, and stakeholder efforts and advised the Western Governors on related policy.

In 2011, Alex joined the Colorado Governor's Energy Office as a Senior Manager for the Transportation Fuels Program. They built and formalized the transportation program, advising the Governor and staff on policies and approaches related to alternative transportation fuels. They also managed stakeholder relationships and coordinated state agencies on cross-cutting issues.

In 2016, they became a Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Transportation, serving as a liaison on coordinated research activities between USDOT and the U.S. Department of Energy. From 2013 to 2020, Alex worked at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, where they held various management roles, including Manager for Advanced Vehicle and Charging Infrastructure Research and Manager for Institutional Planning and Performance Management. They were responsible for strategic projects, technology transfer, and partnership agreements.

Currently, Alex is working at the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation as the Chief Technology Officer. They also served as the Interim Executive Director for the same organization.

Alex Schroeder holds a Master of Science degree in Engineering and Technology Management from the Colorado School of Mines, which was obtained from 2005 to 2007. Prior to that, Alex completed a Bachelor of Science degree in General Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 2000 to 2005. Additionally, Alex obtained a Certificate in Airline/Commercial/Professional Pilot and Flight Crew from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 2000 to 2002. Alex also has a certification as a Private Pilot from the Federal Aviation Administration.
