Benjamin van Espen

Benjamin Van Espen, Ph.D., currently serves as a Patent Agent and IP Practice Specialist at Jones Day since March 2024. Previously, Benjamin was a Ph.D. Candidate and Researcher at Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute from September 2019 to October 2023, leading research on RNF185 in metastatic prostate cancer and fostering collaboration within the prostate cancer research community. Earlier experience includes managing the Laser Capture Microscope Core Facility at the University of California San Diego, contributing to a collaborative project with NASA, and conducting research on chronic kidney disease and the Warburg effect. Benjamin earned a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute and holds both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from UMONS.
