Emanuele Calabrò

Emanuele Calabrò has extensive work experience in the field of building physics engineering and construction. Emanuele has worked for various companies and institutions such as JRL Group Ltd, C.H.A.O.S. Lab - Princeton University, Antonio Battaglia Architects, and Universidade do Minho.

Their most recent position was as the Pre-Construction Design Director at JRL Group Ltd, starting in August 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Head of Engineering from November 2019 to July 2022. In these roles, they were responsible for supporting construction teams in all aspects of facade engineering, ensuring technical compliance with contract documents and specifications. Emanuele also played a key role in coordinating building envelope hygrothermal performance and structural design.

Before joining JRL Group Ltd, Calabrò worked as a Design Engineer and Junior Designer at the same company, where they conducted hygrothermal performance assessments and finite element analysis for various residential developments. Emanuele also produced structural calculations, construction drawings, and specifications for building envelopes.

Calabrò gained research experience at C.H.A.O.S. Lab - Princeton University, where they worked as a Building Physics Engineer and Researcher. Their responsibilities included researching and optimizing cooling and heating systems, performing CFD and energy performance simulations, and designing environmental monitoring stations. Emanuele also managed the integrated analysis of energy/hygrothermal performance for an experimental pavilion prototype.

Additionally, Calabrò worked as an Assistant Project Manager at Antonio Battaglia Architects, where they played a role in designing a housing estate and conducting preliminary economic studies.

Their earlier experience includes working as a Researcher/Building Physics Engineer at Universidade do Minho, where they analyzed the outdoor comfort of a social housing estate and implemented sustainability assessment tools. Emanuele also served as an intern at the Ministero delle Infrastrutture e Trasporti.

Overall, Calabrò has demonstrated expertise in facade engineering, hygrothermal performance analysis, structural design, and building physics research throughout their career.

Emanuele Calabrò has an extensive education history in the field of building construction technology. Emanuele began their academic journey in 2007 and completed their Master's degree in Architectural Engineering at the Università degli Studi di Palermo in 2013.

In 2014, Emanuele pursued further education by enrolling in a Second Level Master's degree program in Sustainable Constructive Processes at the Università Iuav di Venezia, which they completed in 2015.

Emanuele's thirst for knowledge led him to continue their academic pursuits. Emanuele embarked on a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in Building Construction Technology at the Università Iuav di Venezia in 2018. This program is expected to be completed in 2022.

In addition to their academic achievements, Emanuele Calabrò has obtained several certifications to further enhance their professional qualifications. Emanuele became a member of the Society of Facade Engineering (SFE) in January 2020 and obtained the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) Member Grade in December 2019. Emanuele achieved the prestigious status of Chartered Engineer from the Engineering Council in October 2015. Emanuele also holds a professional qualification as an Associate Member of the Ordine degli Ingegneri della Provincia di Palermo (Italian Chartered Institute of Engineers), Section A - Civil Engineering, which they obtained in April 2014.
