Alex Comninos

Alex Comninos has a diverse work experience in the financial industry. Alex began their career as an Analyst/Developer at Merrill Lynch in 1999 and later worked as a Senior Analyst/Developer at Commerzbank AG in London from 2002 to 2005. Alex then joined JSE Ltd, where they held various positions including Business Analyst, Business Integration Manager, Senior Lead Business Analyst, Business Owner, Head of Post-trade Strategy & Enablement, and Acting Head of Risk. Alex was responsible for managing business analysis services and overseeing the replacement of the equity market trading platform. In 2018, they also served as an Executive Committee Member at the South African Securities Lending Association (SASLA). Alex currently holds the position of Chief Risk Officer at JSE Clear, where they provide executive leadership and oversight of enterprise and financial risk management.

Alex Comninos has a diverse education history. In 1992, they started their undergraduate studies at the University of the Witwatersrand and completed their Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSc Eng) in Civil Engineering in 1995.

In 2000, Alex pursued further education and obtained a Diploma in Datametrics (Cum Laude) from UNISA. Their studies focused on Computer Science and Information Systems.

In 2004, they acquired an Investment Management Certificate from the UK Society of Investment Professionals. This qualification is approved by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and allows him to trade, manage, and advise on investments.

Their educational journey continued with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Wits Business School and IE Business School in Madrid. Alex attended these institutions from 2011 to 2013, studying Business Administration and Management, General.
