Robert Cottrell has over 20 years of work experience in software engineering. Robert began their career in 2000 as a Software Development Engineer at Amazon.com, where they worked with C++ and Java web services. Robert then moved on to The Robot Co-op in 2004 as a Ruby on Rails developer for 43 Things, a social network to help users identify and achieve their goals. In 2006, they joined Amazon Development Centre Scotland as a Java web services developer. In 2011, they joined Amazon Web Services as a Software Development Engineer. In 2012, they co-founded and became Executive Vice President of Sliding Autonomy, LLC. In 2013, they joined Twitter as a Senior Software Engineer, where they worked on the core platform team and the multimedia team. In 2015, they moved to 3D Robotics as a Senior Software Engineer, where they developed an iOS drone companion app. Finally, in 2016, they joined June as a Software Engineer, where they worked on Android and iOS development for the June smart oven. Currently, they are working at Weber Inc. as a Sof.
Robert Cottrell obtained a BS in Mathematics from The University of Texas at Austin between 1991 and 1993. Robert then attended the University of Washington School of Law, where they received a JD between 1993 and 1997. During this time, they also obtained an MBA in Accounting and Finance from the University of Washington - Michael G. Foster School of Business from 1994 to 1996. In 2017, they completed a Machine Learning Engineer Nanodegree from Udacity, and in 2018, they obtained a Deep Learning Specialization from Coursera Course Certificates. Most recently, they obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign between 2018 and 2020.
