Lorenzo Petroli has over 14 years of work experience. Lorenzo began their career in 2006 as an Undergraduate Researcher at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, where they developed a new technique to design Integrated Circuits that are tolerant to space radiation. In 2008, they became a Software Engineer at Parks S/A Comunicações Digitais. In 2011, they were promoted to Software Development Team Lead at Datacom, where they delivered high performance and cost effective Telecommunication products. In 2014, they joined Orion Health as a Software Engineering Manager (Senior Software Team Lead), where they led software development teams from forming to autonomous, high performance. In 2017, they moved to Smartpay Payments as a Senior Software Engineering Manager (Software Delivery Manager), where they successfully enabled consistent, sustainable delivery of quality fintech products. In 2018, they became a Senior Software Engineering Manager (Tribe Lead) at Gentrack Ltd (Global), where they managed the delivery of a product portfolio for billing software for utilities in NZ, UK, Australia and Singapore. In 2019, they founded Akeela, a startup with the goal to help people to discover and enjoy the outdoors safely in New Zealand and Australia. Lorenzo was responsible for its overall vision, commercialisation, funding and technical direction. In 2020, they joined Xero as a Director of Engineering (Software Development Manager), where they managed leaders across groups of teams (25+ people) responsible for delivering software solutions to accountants and bookkeepers. Lorenzo led the modernisation strategy of one of Xero's most successful solutions, as well as its transformation from a monolithic silo to a plug and play orchestration layer between different solutions. Lorenzo was also responsible for the technical direction of the product, delivery alignment between products, managing different stakeholders, and building high performing cross functional teams of software engineers. In 2022, they became the Director of Engineering at Juni.

Lorenzo Petroli obtained a Bachelor of Science with First Class Honors (B.Sc. Hons) in Computer Systems Engineering from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in 2008. Lorenzo then went on to pursue a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Microelectronics from the same university from 2009 to 2012. In 2012, they earned a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Leadership and Management - Transformation and Change from Unisinos. In 2014, they obtained a Certified ScrumMaster\u00ae from the Scrum Alliance and an IELTS General Training - Band Score 8.5 from the British Council.
