Nina Young is a Detroit native who is passionate about independent filmmaking and advocating for the creation and exhibition of art about and by women of color. She is a 2019 graduate of the MFA Film program at Howard University and holds a BA in Psychology with a concentration in Media Studies from Kalamazoo College in Michigan.
A filmmaker and storyteller who focuses on the experience of Black women in America, Nina wrote and directed The Problem with Erin, a 10-minute short film that is currently wrapping post-production. She has also worked on other film productions, such as The D (Detroit), Rosenwald (DC), and 4:53 (Port au Prince, Haiti, and Miami). She is currently writing a feature length screenplay while continuing to work with local filmmakers and storytellers on their independent projects.
