Zane Derbyshire

Zane Derbyshire has an extensive work experience in the radio industry. Zane started their career as the Station Manager at CBFM 107.9, where they successfully grew the audience by 44%. Zane then moved on to work at Algoa FM as a Music Compiler & Presenter for four years, followed by a role as Group Music Manager at Primedia Broadcasting for six years.

In 2013, Zane joined East Coast Radio as the Branding & Content Director. During their tenure, they managed a team of 51 people and played a crucial role in achieving the brand's goals and objectives, making East Coast Radio the current #2 commercial radio station with 1.2 million weekly listeners. Zane also led innovative strategies that increased engagement and generated PR results, receiving 15 Radio Award nominations.

Zane briefly worked as a Branding & Content Consultant at Kaya 959 before joining Kagiso Media as the Creative Solutions Director. In this role, they are responsible for refining promotion concepts, leading brainstorming sessions, and ensuring comprehensive campaign briefs in collaboration with implementation managers. Zane also serves as a communication and strategy connector between the creative, sales, and operations teams of East Coast Radio, Jacaranda FM, and Mediamark.

Furthermore, Zane has knowledge and experience as a Music Director at Jacaranda FM. Zane Derbyshire completed their Executive Coaching degree at GIBS Business School (Gordon Institute of Business Science) in 2019. Prior to that, they pursued a Senior Management Programme at the same institution from 2014 to 2015, specializing in Organizational Leadership. Zane also holds a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree in Tourism and Management which they obtained from Oxford Brookes University between 1999 and 2003. Zane completed their secondary education and received a Matric degree from Wittedrift High School from 1994 to 1998.
