Jared Kibele

Jared Kibele has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Jared is currently working at Kairos Aerospace as a Senior Scientist. Prior to this, they worked at Ushr, Inc. as a Senior Software Engineer, where they focused on automated imagery processing pipelines and lidar point cloud production for autonomous driving. Jared also worked at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS) as a Scientific Programmer, providing analytical support to working groups and contributing to user interface code. Before that, Jared was a PhD Candidate at The University of Auckland, where they developed a system of methods and open-source software for mapping submerged habitats. Jared also has experience as a Captain, sailing a sailboat with their wife from California to New Zealand. In addition, Jared worked as a Senior GIS Analyst at MarineMap, helping to develop a web-based decision support tool for the creation of Marine Protected Areas. Jared also provided GIS services at the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission and worked as a Lab Tech at Stanford University. Earlier in their career, Jared was a Programmer at 415 Productions, Inc., where they focused on website development and graphical production work.

Jared Kibele has a comprehensive education history in the field of marine sciences. Jared began their academic journey at Monterey Peninsula College in 2003, where they completed an Associate's Degree in Marine Science and Technology. Subsequently, in 2004, they pursued their bachelor's degree at the University of California, Santa Cruz, specializing in Marine Biology. Continuing their education, Jared then enrolled at The University of Auckland in 2012, where they spent five years studying Marine Sciences and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in 2017.

In addition to their formal education, Jared Kibele has also acquired various certifications related to their field of expertise. These certifications include AAUS Scientific Diver from the American Academy of Underwater Sciences, Boatmaster from Coastguard Boating Education, Certificate of Competency (Scientific Diving) from WorkSafe New Zealand, and Divemaster from NAUI Worldwide.
