Michael Matthews

Michael Matthews has a range of experience in various companies and roles. Michael began their career at 3M as a Senior Physicist, where they worked on projects related to OLED light extraction films and increasing the power of picosecond lasers. Michael then joined AOSense, Inc as a Principal Physicist, where they worked on designing and building sensors based on atomic interferometry, including gravimeters, gyros, and accelerometers. Michael later became the Technical Fellow and then the Technical Director of Sensors at AOSense, Inc.

In 2018, Michael joined Waymo as a Staff Hardware Engineer, where they served as the technical lead on pilot projects for new lidar technology. Michael was responsible for integrating novel sensors onto cars and integrating them into the Waymo perception ecosystem, as well as measuring and improving laser performance. Currently, Michael works at Kairos Aerospace as a Staff Lidar Scientist, but the information about their specific role and responsibilities is not provided.

Michael Matthews has pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Physics at The University of Texas at Austin and is currently working towards a Doctorate in Physics at the University of Colorado Boulder.
