Abiram Bala

Abiram Bala, MD, is an accomplished orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement, currently affiliated with Kaiser Permanente since December 2023. In addition to clinical practice, Abiram serves on the Clinical Advisory Board for AngelMD and acts as a Medical Startup Advisor for ScaleHealth, both roles held since 2021. Abiram has been a Peer Reviewer for The Journal of Arthroplasty since 2017 and practiced as an orthopaedic surgeon at Southern California Orthopedic Institute from September 2022 to December 2023. Following a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Abiram completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at Stanford University. Academic foundations include an M.D. from Duke University School of Medicine and a B.A. in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley. Early research experience includes work at Genentech and QB3, focusing on molecular diagnostics, cancer cell biology, and biochemistry.
