Rachel Love has a diverse work experience in various roles. Rachel is currently the Director of Science, Math, Business and Economics Learning at Kalamazoo College since August 2021. Previously, they worked as a PhD Researcher at the Naturalis Biodiversity Center from October 2011 to December 2016. Rachel also served as the Plant Collection Manager at the Fredrik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park for a brief period in 2009. Additionally, they held multiple roles at Grand Valley State University, including Adjunct Professor from August 2006 to December 2008 and University Greenhouse Collection from May 2002 to May 2007. Rachel's work experience also includes a position as a Biology Professor at Muskegon Community College from January 2008 to May 2008.
Rachel Love has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Biodiversity, with a specialization in the diversification and differentiation of tropical pitcher plants, from Leiden University, which they obtained from 2012 to 2016. Prior to that, they completed their Masters degree in Developmental Seed Biology and Conservation from Grand Valley State University, from 2004 to 2006. Additionally, they hold a Bachelors of Science degree from Grand Valley State University, with a major in Biology, minor in Chemistry, and an emphasis on Secondary Education, which they earned from 2002 to 2004. Rachel also has a MACRO Agreement from Grand Rapids Community College obtained prior to 2001. Rachel has an additional certification in Wilderness Medical Training from Far From Help.
