Karen Trout

Community Engagement Librarian at Kalamazoo Public Library

Karen Trout is a seasoned librarian with extensive experience at Kalamazoo Public Library since April 2004, where responsibilities include serving as Community Engagement Librarian, overseeing the "one book one city" initiative, developing community conversation services, and managing adult programming. Previous roles at the library include Selection Librarian and Coordinator of Reading Together, as well as Teen Selection Librarian. Trout also contributed to All Ears Theatre as an announcer and production coordinator from 2002 to 2010, and held internship and director positions focusing on fundraising at Kalamazoo College and Western Michigan University. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a B.A. in Fine Arts from St. Olaf College.
