Director, Operations & Artistic Planning at Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra

Erik Shinn is the Director of Operations at the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra. Erik has been with the organization since August 2018 and in their current role, they oversee orchestra operations including personnel, production, hospitality, guest artist management, and the music library. Erik also manages the orchestra's needs, oversees auditions, and generates production documents. In addition, they develop operations budgets and works with the Executive and Music Directors to implement the orchestra's annual plan and vision.

Prior to their current role, Erik was the Concert Operations and Personnel Manager at the York Symphony Orchestra from August 2018 to March 2021. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing orchestra operations including personnel, production, hospitality, guest artist management, and the music library. Erik also managed the orchestra's needs, oversaw auditions, and generated production documents.

Erik has also held positions as the Housing Director at Music Academy of the West and as an Adjunct Lecturer of Trombone at University of Florida.

Erik Shinn received their Doctor of Music from Florida State University, their Master of Music from Baylor University, and their Bachelor of Music Education from Penn State University.

Their manager is Jessica Mallow Gulley, Executive Director. and Victoria "Tori" Jackson - Assistant Director of Operations & Personnel Manager reports to Erik Shinn. Erik Shinn works with Christopher Schram - Director of Development, Elizabeth Youker - Director of Education & Community Engagement, and Suzanne Weeldreyer - Director of Grants & Administration.
