Peter Winkelstein

Peter Winkelstein serves as the Chief Medical Informatics Officer at Kaleida Health and UB|MD, as well as the President of the Medical Staff at Kaleida Health, bringing extensive experience in healthcare informatics since June 2014. Currently, Peter also holds the position of Executive Director at the Institute for Healthcare Informatics, focusing on supporting big data healthcare research and economic development through secure computing environments and extensive health care datasets. Peter has served in academic roles, including Clinical Professor of Pediatrics and Chief of the Division of General Pediatrics at the University at Buffalo since 1994. Previously, Peter held leadership positions at Roswell Park Cancer Institute and Eclipsys Corporation, where critical electronic health record installations and structured documentation templates were developed. Peter's educational background includes an MBA from the University at Buffalo School of Management and an MD from the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, alongside degrees in Astronomy and Physics.
