Ville Karkiainen is a seasoned leader in talent development and human resources, currently serving as Vice President of Leadership & Talent Development and Vice President of Human Resources at Kalmar since October 2020. In addition to these roles, Ville is actively involved as a Board Member at The Shortcut and Chairman of the Board at Resilience Factory Oy, both since 2022 and 2014 respectively. Ville co-founded Blalab in January 2017 and held prominent roles at Cargotec, including VP of Leadership and Talent Development and Director of Leadership Development, before transitioning to Korn Ferry Hay Group as Associate Partner. Ville's background also includes serving as HR Director at British American Tobacco for the Nordic region and training as a product chemist at Oy Gustav Paulig Ab, alongside military service as a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps Engineer. Ville holds a Master's degree in Food Science with a focus on various disciplines from the University of Helsinki and completed training at the Reserve Officers School of the Finnish Defence Forces.
