Arief Karfianto has a diverse work experience in the field of information technology. Arief has worked as the Head of IT Infrastructure Subdivision at Kantor Staf Presiden Republik Indonesia since July 2019. Prior to that, they served as an Information System Analyst at the same company from February 2015 to June 2019. Arief is currently a Responsible AI Fellow at The Stimson Center where they are involved in examining the impacts of AI applications in developing countries. Arief also worked as a Program Coordinator at Kementerian Sekretariat Negara RI, managing innovation programs. In addition, they have experience as a Site Reliability Engineering Manager at LAPOR!, a national complaint handling system, and as a System Administrator & QA Engineer at Satu Data Indonesia. Arief has also worked as a Casual Tutor at the University of Wollongong and as an Information Systems Administrator at the President's Delivery Unit for Development Monitoring and Oversight. Arief provided further contributions as a Developer and System Administrator at the National Secretariat of Open Government Indonesia.
Arief Karfianto earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Cryptographic Engineering from the National Cyber and Crypto Polytechnic in 2008. Arief then pursued a Master of Management degree in Management Information Systems from the Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta, which they completed in 2011. In 2016, Arief attended the University of Wollongong and obtained a Master of Information and Communication Technology Advanced degree specializing in IT Strategic Planning and Systems Development in 2017. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications, including UI/UX Design Mastery (Gold) from Skilvul.
