Investment Director, Capital Access Lab at Kauffman Foundation

Brendan Cosgrove has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations and roles. Brendan is currently the Co-Founder & Director at Catalyze, a national nonprofit initiative that aims to democratize access to capital, networks, and resources for the next generation of Capital Entrepreneurs. Brendan'sresponsibilities involve supporting innovative models of distributing capital to founders, ranging from first-time, underrepresented fund managers to existing organizations bringing alternative capital products to the market.

Prior to their current role, Brendan served as an Investment Director at the Kauffman Foundation's Capital Access Lab. Here, they played a crucial part in launching the national initiative and focused on catalyzing new financing mechanisms to serve underserved entrepreneurs who historically faced barriers due to factors such as race, gender, or geographic location.

Brendan also worked as an Innovative Finance Director at Blueprint Local, a national platform for intentional capital deployment with impact into communities. In this role, they collaborated with the Nowak Metro Finance Lab at Drexel University on a project aimed at assisting small businesses in their COVID-19 recovery through innovative ways of accessing capital.

Additionally, Brendan co-founded and served as Vice President of Catalyze at SEAF. During their time at SEAF, they played a significant role in the development of the organization.

Before their involvement in impact investing and finance, Brendan worked at Cambridge Associates as an Investment Consultant, specifically focusing on Sustainable & Impact Investing Research. Brendan also held various positions at Cambridge Associates, including Associate Investment Director, Senior Investment Associate & Management Team Leader, and Investment Associate.

Brendan started their career in the finance industry as a Summer Analyst at Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley.

Brendan Cosgrove completed their high school education at Phillips Exeter Academy from 2006 to 2010, earning a High School Diploma. Brendan then pursued higher education at Colby College from 2010 to 2014, where they achieved a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Economics-Financial Markets & Geology with Summa Cum Laude honors. In August 2020, Brendan obtained a certification in Venture Deals from Techstars.
