Diego Gomes, BS, PhD

Diego Gomes has a diverse work experience in the field of medical research and clinical development. Diego is currently working as an Associate Medical Director at KBP Biosciences, where they oversee medical issues related to clinical development and is involved in designing clinical development plans and protocols. Diego also monitors the clinical trials and ensures their successful conduct.

Before joining KBP Biosciences, Diego worked as a Clinical-Medical Science Liaison at Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. In this role, they served as a liaison between the company and healthcare professionals, providing medical expertise and support.

Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Medical Science Liaison in the cardiorenal team of Bayer Pharmaceuticals. Diego'sresponsibilities included maintaining relationships with key opinion leaders, training commercial representatives on medical content, and providing medical support for speaker programs.

Diego also has experience as a Medical Science Liaison at The Medical Affairs Company (TMAC), where they provided medical expertise and support to healthcare professionals.

In terms of research experience, Diego worked as a Senior Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Washington, where they conducted research on the impact of advanced glycation end-products on obesity, inflammation, diabetes, and hypercholesterolemia. Diego also investigated adipose tissue biology, atherosclerosis development, and albumin and lipoproteins functionality in diabetes.

Earlier in their career, Diego worked as a Research Associate at CRA Solutions, where they focused on oncology and pulmonary protocols. Diego provided support to the primary CRA team and project managers by collecting and monitoring research data and ensuring compliance with protocols.

Diego's work experience also includes a role as a Cardiovascular Research Trainee at Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo. In this position, they apprenticed under a primary researcher, gaining experience in molecular biology, tissue-related protocols, and investigational research.

Diego Gomes holds a bachelor's degree in Biology, with a teacher certification, from Universidade Nove de Julho, completed from 2007 to 2010. Diego then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physiology, Biochemistry, and Metabolism from USP - Universidade de São Paulo, which they completed from 2011 to 2015. Later on, they obtained a Postdoctoral Degree in Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Nutrition from the University of Washington - School of Medicine, completing it from 2017 to 2020.
