Denis Shukur

Denis Shukur has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Denis began their career as a Market Researcher at Kantar, where they conducted quantitative and qualitative research with respondents on the phone and communicated with directors and managers of various businesses. Denis then moved on to work at Queen Mary University of London Students' Union, where they served as the Vice President of Education, Welfare, and Representation. During this time, they represented 14,000 students, managed a team of 30 staff, and monitored Union expenditure. Afterward, Denis worked at Shukur Associates as a Communications Manager before joining Goldsmiths Students' Union. At Goldsmiths, they held multiple roles, including Deputy Chief Executive (Membership), Activities Manager, Representation and Democracy Manager, and Democracy and Representation Coordinator. In these positions, they were responsible for various aspects of the union's operations, such as developing strategies, managing budgets, overseeing events, and providing support to elected officers. Denis' most recent position was as the CEO of the University of East London Students' Union, where they led the union's strategic and operational plans, oversaw its operations and finances, and maintained stakeholder relationships. Currently, Denis serves as the CEO of KCLSU.

Denis Shukur attended Stanford University Graduate School of Business in 2022, where they completed the Executive Program for Non Profit Leaders, focusing on Business Administration and Management. From 2017 to 2019, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at the University of East London. In 2013 and 2014, Denis participated in the Leadership Development Programme at Bayes Business School. Denis'sundergraduate studies took place from 2004 to 2007 at Queen Mary University of London, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Geography and Politics. Prior to that, Denis attended Swanlea School from 1993 to 1998. In addition to their formal education, Denis holds several certifications, including Strategic Management & Leadership from the Chartered Management Institute (obtained in 2020), Level 5 Leadership and Management from the Institute of Leadership & Management (obtained in 2016), Fire Marshal certification from St Johns Ambulance (obtained May 2015), and Prince2 (Foundation) certification from the Association for Project Management (obtained in 2009).
