Andy Jones has a long history of involvement in various roles in the education and arts industries. Andy began their career in 1990 as an Associate in English at the English Department of UC Davis. In 1996, they joined Academic Technology Services as an Academic Associate Director, where they oversaw a team of instructional designers, graduate student researchers, and undergraduate interns. Andy also served as a Continuing Lecturer in the University Writing Program at UC Davis, a Coordinator of Computer-Aided Instruction in the English Department and University Writing Program at UC Davis, and a Manager of the Faculty Mentoring Faculty Program at the Teaching Resources Center. In 2006, they began hosting Poetry Night at the John Natsoulas Gallery in Davis, and in 2000 they began hosting the radio show, Dr. Andy's Poetry and Technology Hour, on KDVS 90.3 FM Davis, CA. In 2009, they became the Chair of the Cultural Arts and Entertainment Committee of the City of Davis, and in 2010 they began working as a Lecturer at the University of California, Davis Graduate School of Management. In 2014, they were appointed Poet Laureate of the City of Davis.
Andy Jones completed their education history by earning a Ph.D. in Poetry and American Literature from the University of California, Davis from 1990 to 1996. Prior to that, they earned a B.A. in English, Poetry, and Psychology from Boston University from 1985 to 1989. In 1987, they participated in a study abroad program at Regent's College, focusing on Poetry and Psychology. Andy earned a High School Diploma from The Field School from 1981 to 1985. Andy'searlier education was completed at The Washington Waldorf School, where they graduated from 8th Grade in 1981, focusing on Art, Nature, Imagination, Play, and Hearst Hall.
