Abigail Stempson

Abby Stempson focuses her practice on state-level regulatory enforcement actions and State Attorneys General investigations as well as investigations brought by the Federal Trade Commission and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and other consumer protection matters.

Abby was previously the director of the National Attorneys General Training and Research Institute’s (NAGTRI) Center for Consumer Protection at the National Association of Attorneys General, where she interacted with Attorneys General and their staff, at every level, in all 50 states. She provided training, research, and other resources to the staff of attorneys general offices and other government attorneys and staff committed to protecting the public against consumer fraud and abuse. She also served as the staff liaison to the following NAAG committees: Consumer Protection; Charities; Financial Services and Consumer Protection Enforcement, Education, and Training Fund, Volkswagen Settlement Fund, and Charities Enforcement Training Fund. In her role at NAAG, Abby often was called upon to serve as a national resource on State Attorney General consumer protection priorities and enforcement authority.

Abby was also the chief of the Public Protection Bureau and Consumer Protection Division in the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office and an assistant attorney general, where she focused on consumer fraud and deceptive trade practices, nonprofit organizations, charitable trusts, and antitrust matters. She led the state’s White Collar Fraud Task Force, was a member of the Suspicious Activity Report state review team, and was a board member of the National Association of State Charities Officials. Abby served in leadership roles on many State Attorney General multistate consumer protection investigations.
