Sam Merrell

Sam Merrell, CISSP, currently serves as the Chief Information Security Officer and Director of Global Information Security & Compliance at Kennametal, a position held since February 2021. Prior experience includes roles as Head of Cyber Intelligence at Covestro from September 2015 to January 2021 and Chapter Secretary for the (ISC)² Pittsburgh Chapter until March 2017. Sam has also held academic positions, including Adjunct Faculty at Carnegie Mellon University, teaching "Cybersecurity in Critical Infrastructure." Previous industry experience includes significant roles at Bayer, Software Engineering Institute / CERT, Allegheny Valley Bank of Pittsburgh, and Duerr Business Solutions. Sam holds an M.S. in Information Technology (Information Security and Assurance) from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.A. in Political Science and Government from the University of Pittsburgh.
