Richard Carter

Richard Carter has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Richard most recently worked as a Principal Data Scientist at Kevel starting in April 2022. Prior to that, they were a Data Scientist at Amazon from 2020 to 2022 and at Previse from 2018 to 2020. Richard also worked as a Data Science Consultant at The Data Lab - Innovation Centre from 2015 to 2018. Before their career in data science, Richard operated as a self-employed Professional Gambler in the sports industry from 2007 to 2015. Richard also gained experience in finance and analysis as a Group ALM Associate Director at Bank of Scotland from 2002 to 2003 and as a Commodities Analyst at Goldman Sachs from 2000 to 2002. Richard started their career as an Account Manager at Thomson Reuters from 1997 to 1999.

Richard Carter holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Machine Learning applied to Tournament Poker from The University of Edinburgh, which they completed from 2003 to 2007. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Financial Mathematics from the University of Warwick - Warwick Business School, completing it in 2000. In 1992, they earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc Hons) in Mathematics from the University of St Andrews. Additionally, Richard has obtained various certifications, including AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty, AWS Certified Machine Learning - Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, and has passed Level II of the CFA Program.
