Kimberly Ortegel

Kimberly Ortegel, MS has a diverse work experience spanning from 1998 to the present. Kimberly started their career as a Licensed Massage Therapist in Sugar Grove, IL. In 2001, they joined CA Technologies as a Software Engineer, where they excelled in various roles, including Principal Software Engineer - Quality Assurance and Hybrid Software Engineer/Quality Assurance Engineer. Kimberly demonstrated expertise in automated testing and script creation, resulting in improved efficiency and productivity. Kimberly also mentored new team members and contributed to the transition from a Waterfall to a Kanban Agile environment. In 2017, they joined Solstice as a Senior QA Consultant, where they built regression suites and coded automated test scripts for mobile and web applications. Currently, they work at Kin + Carta as a QA Principal / Practice Lead, where they lead internal QA initiatives and ensures the placement of QAs on projects aligns with company needs and their career goals.

Kimberly Ortegel has a diverse education history. Kimberly holds a Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science from Northern Illinois University. Prior to that, they obtained a certification as a Certified Massage Therapist from the Chicago School of Massage Therapy and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Dance Performance from Northern Illinois University. Kimberly also underwent Yoga Teacher Training/Yoga Therapy at Aurora Yoga Center. In addition to their degrees, Kimberly has acquired several certifications, including Certified TMMi Professional from the TMMi Foundation, ISTQB Advanced Test Automation Engineer from the ISTQB - International Software Testing Qualifications Board, ASTQB Mobile Testing Certification from the American Software Testing Qualifications Board, and IBM Certified Database Administrator / DB2 11 DBA for z/OS from IBM. Kimberly also holds ISTQB Foundation Level Testing certification and is a licensed Massage Therapist in the State of Illinois.
