Dr. Mohamed A. Helal

Dr. Mohamed A. Helal serves as the Head of Hospital Information Systems at King Hamad University Hospital in Bahrain since March 2015, focusing on the design and management of core clinical and administrative information systems. Previously, Dr. Helal held the position of Head of Software Systems Development at the Information & eGovernment Authority from August 2006 to June 2016, overseeing the development of Bahrain's government information systems and advising on technical direction. Dr. Helal's earlier experience includes serving as a Senior System Analyst, where leadership of development teams resulted in highly-scalable government information systems. Additionally, Dr. Helal worked as a Staff Software Engineer at IBM. Academic qualifications include an MBBCH in Medicine and Surgery from Qasr Al Ainy School of Medicine, a Post Graduate Diploma in Software Engineering from the Information Technology Institute, and a Master's degree in Software Engineering from the University of Sunderland.
