Luca Baronti

Luca Baronti, PhD, is a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Kingfisher plc since December 2024. Previously, as Lead Machine Learning Scientist at Keyless, Luca coordinated the development of a deep-learning based biometric authentication system. Academic experience includes serving as a Researcher and PhD Student at the University of Birmingham, where a thesis was successfully defended with no corrections accepted, along with roles as a Research Associate focusing on machine learning applications for the EU Himalaia project. Luca co-founded Aeffective, developing an end-to-end deep learning system for an NLP solution, and has experience as a Software Engineer at Net7, a scholarship grant recipient at the University of Pisa, and an intern at the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Machine Learning from the University of Birmingham and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Università di Pisa.
