Harrison Gaskins is an accomplished educational leader with extensive experience in mentorship and special education. Currently serving as the Assistant Director of the Close Ties Leadership Program since August 2017, Gaskins focuses on empowering Black boys through mentorship and college readiness initiatives. Concurrently, Gaskins holds multiple roles at KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools, including Advancement Leader of Scholar Support, Special Education Teacher, 1st Grade Teacher, and Kindergarten Teacher. Previous roles include Intensive In-Home Counselor at Family Behavioral Health Services and Recreational Therapy Assistant for the City of Newport News, showcasing a diverse background in behavioral health and child support. Gaskins earned a Master's Degree in Special Education and Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education and a Bachelor's Degree in Family and Consumer Sciences/Human Sciences Communication from Virginia State University.
