Assistant Principal Of Culture at KIPP Northern California

James Townsend has a diverse work experience in the education sector. James started their career in 2015 with Teach For America, where they served as a Lead Teacher until June 2017. In August 2015, they also began working at St. HOPE as a History Teacher, a role they held until July 2018. During their time at St. HOPE, they were promoted to the position of Lead Writing and History Teacher in August 2017. In August 2018, James joined Classical Charter Schools as the Dean of Students, a role they held until June 2020. Currently, they are working as the Assistant Principal of Culture at KIPP Public Schools Northern California, a position they have held since July 2020.

James Townsend completed their Master of Arts (M.A.) in Education Administration and Leadership at Loyola Marymount University from 2016 to 2017. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science with a minor in Education from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where they studied from 2011 to 2015.
