Michelle Desjardins serves as the Director of Community Affairs and Special Projects at KIPP NYC since August 2022, previously holding the position of an English Teacher. In early 2024, Michelle took on the role of Adult English Language Instructor at CUNY Hostos Community College, where a customized curriculum for adult ESL learners was developed and implemented. Prior experience includes roles at the School District of Philadelphia as a Teacher and Teacher Resident, as well as serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Pennsylvania. Additional experience encompasses tutoring and mentoring students at the University of Pittsburgh Center for Urban Education, overseeing after-school programs at Falk School, supporting female students as a Student Support Intern at Hornsey School for Girls, and participating as a Teaching Fellow at Breakthrough New York and Breakthrough Collaborative. Michelle holds a Master of Education in English/Language Arts Teacher Education from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts in English Writing and Communication from the University of Pittsburgh.
