John Kalafatas

John Kalafatas has over 30 years of experience in various leadership and management roles. John served as the Vice President of Scale & Integration for the KIPP Foundation, where they led the national strategy for building regional capacity and scale through mergers and integrations. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Relationship Manager for the KIPP Foundation, providing support and accountability to a portfolio of KIPP regions.

Before joining the KIPP Foundation, John was the Chief Operating Officer for KIPP Massachusetts, where they led strategic planning and helped the organization grow from one school to six schools, serving 2,500 students. John also served as the Portfolio Manager for the Youth Development Fund at The Edna McConnell Clark Foundation, where they oversaw grantmaking and directed multi-million dollar investments in education and youth development organizations.

John's experience also includes roles at Duke University, City Year, Harvard Business School, KublerWirka, Inc., McKinsey & Company, Harvard University, and Tufts Health Plan. John'sareas of expertise include nonprofit management, strategic planning, fundraising, and leadership development.

John Kalafatas completed their education with an MBA in Social Enterprise from Harvard Business School in 1999 and a BA in History from Tufts University from 1987 to 1991. Additionally, they received training in Outdoor Education at NOLS and became a certified Noble Story Coach in Adaptive Leadership Coaching through the Noble Story Group.
