Valerie Chong

Senior Commercial Manager at Kirby Group Engineering

Valerie Chong has a diverse background in commercial management and quantity surveying. Valerie currently works as a Commercial Manager at Kirby Group Engineering since June 2021. Prior to this, they served as a Commercial Manager at Motoklik from July 2017 until the present. At Motoklik, Valerie was involved in the development of a cloud-based Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning platform in collaboration with the European Space Agency.

Valerie also worked as an Electrical Quantity Surveyor at William Farrell Limited from January 2019 to June 2021. During their time there, they were involved in the refurbishment and extension project of Facebook New Dublin HQ in Ballsbridge. Valerie was part of the BIM department, which aimed to improve health and safety by prefabricating electrical systems.

From January 2017 to December 2018, Valerie worked as a Project Quantity Surveyor at ADCO Contracting & Civil Engineering Ltd. Their responsibilities included cost effectiveness analysis of groundwork packages for the MSL Grange Motors project.

Valerie's experience also includes working as a Quantity Surveyor at Kingsmen Creatives Ltd from January 2015 to December 2016. Valerie was assigned to oversee a project quantity surveyor in Dubai for the IMG Worlds of Adventure project.

Prior to that, Valerie worked as a Quantity Surveyor at Bumimetro Construction Sdn Bhd from January 2012 to December 2014.

Valerie Chong pursued their education in a chronological order. In 2010, they attended Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying. After completing their degree, they enrolled at Sheffield Hallam University in 2014, specializing in Quantity Surveying Studies and earning a Bachelor's Degree. From 2016 to 2017, Valerie pursued a Master's Degree in Project Management at South East Technological University. Finally, in 2018, they obtained an Associate's degree in Computer Science from the University of the People, which they completed in 2020.
