Connie Thurman

VP, Institutional Effectiveness at Kirkwood Community College

Connie Thurman is currently the VP of Institutional Effectiveness at Kirkwood Community College. Prior to their current role, Connie served as the Dean of Institutional Effectiveness and Human Resources at Carl Sandburg College from July 2005 to June 2019. In this role, Connie was responsible for strategic oversight of institutional effectiveness and research, organizational development, employment contract negotiations, human resource legislation, and human resource services. Connie also served as an adjunct instructor of Six Sigma, Lean, Management, and Supervision.

Before their time at Carl Sandburg College, Connie was the Director of Human Resources at Maytag from December 1977 to March 2005. In this role, Connie was responsible for strategic oversight of the Employment Transition Center and Outplacement.

Connie has over 40 years of experience in human resources and has been a leader in their field for many years. Connie is a highly effective communicator and has a proven track record of developing and implementing successful strategies. Connie is a strong advocate for employee development and is committed to creating a positive and productive work environment.
