Ronald Hanson is a prominent figure in the field of quantum technology, currently serving as the Lead National Agenda Quantum Technology and Scientific Director at QuTech since January 2014, where responsibilities include managing a growing research institute with an annual budget of approximately €35 million. Hanson has played a pivotal role in the transformation of QuTech from a startup to an established international institute. In addition, Hanson has held various significant positions, including Roadmap Leader for Quantum Internet and Networked Computing at KNAW, membership in both the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities, and the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Professor at TU Delft. De Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen is forum, geweten en stem van de Nederlandse wetenschap.
