David Whewell

David Whewell has extensive experience in technology and innovation roles. David is currently the Chief Technology and Data Officer at Koa Health, where they lead the company's mission of providing accessible mental health support through technology and research. Prior to this, they held the role of Chief Information and Technology Officer (Interim) at HN.

David has also been involved in the healthcare industry, serving as an Advisory Board Member at Acerta Care, where they focused on connecting patients in China with doctors in North America through telehealth and AI-augmented services. David also co-founded Acerta Care and led the technical strategy and governance for the company.

In addition, David has held leadership positions at Octave Bioscience, Merck Group, and Transport for London. At Octave Bioscience, they served as the Head of Engineering and played a key role in developing a platform for analyzing Multiple Sclerosis.

At Merck Group, David was the Director of Architecture and Software Innovation, providing the technology strategy to transform Merck into a digital pharmaceutical player. David also led the enterprise architecture and eHealth divisions at Merck.

Earlier in their career, David worked at Transport for London as an Enterprise Architect, where they helped define and enact a 15-year vision for the future of public transport in London. David was also an Enterprise Architecture Consultant at Resonance, providing consultancy in technology, processes, audience engagement, and transformation.

David began their career as a Solutions Architect at Omnifone, where they delivered high-profile partner solutions and played a key role in pre-sales technical consultancy, solution specification, and design. David was also responsible for championing compliance with security and operability constraints.

David Whewell completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science from Durham University from 1992 to 1995. Prior to that, from 1990 to 1992, they attended the Cambridge Center of Sixth Form Studies, where they focused on Maths, Further Maths, Physics, and French. Before their college education, David attended St George's English School in Rome from 1980 to 1990, although no specific degrees or fields of study were indicated for this period.

Additionally, David Whewell obtained several certifications later in their career. In September 2017, they completed the d.School - Design Thinking program at Stanford University. In December 2014, they earned the TOGAF 9.1 Foundation and Certified designation from The Open Group. Furthermore, in June 2019, David obtained both the Amazon Web Services Certified Cloud Practitioner and Amazon Web Services Solutions Architect Associate certifications from Amazon Web Services (AWS).
